you just have to have strong enough pokemon, if you dont train your pokemonb you cant defeat anybody. the way to defeat anybody in the pokemon games is to train your pokemon to become strong and gain levels. if you have wifi, you can trade for pokemon and then they level up faster. i traded a level 42 raquasa for a level 35 grotal. i did that so i could level up the grotal quik and train it so it will be even stronger than the raquasa. right now i evolved the grotal and its level 87. its all about training them, thats why they call it a "pokemon trainer". its all in commen sence
