You could defend gay rights by explaining that it is not a choice and that (if you're a Christian) God wanted you to be different from everyone else. You could say that you feel offended when you are called insulting names and that you don't appreciate it.

In fact, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) people aren't asking for any special rights -- just those we share with the rest of humanity, including "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
