I recommend Oblivion or Skyrim for a softer gaming experience since they're the newest games. Morrowind, the third game, is pretty hardcore, but it represents a lot of early and old game mechanics that aren't present in the latest Elder Scrolls games. Morrowind is a lot more difficult than Oblivion and Skyrim, and some old Elder Scrolls players argue that the latest games have been "dumbed down". The first two games are difficult to find and start up/install, so I wouldn't recommend playing them first.

No. There is no special version of Morrowind for use with Windows Vista. It might be possible to download a patch from one of the various fan sites, so you might consider checking those. A good place to start would be the Elder Scrolls official fan site. It is generally held that Windows Vista is not a good platform for running games. In that respect it might be worthwhile to run older games such as Morrowind on a different machine, or replace the operating system on your existing machine. Windows XP is compatible with most games and patches are widely available for those with which it is not.
Tamriel is the name of the continent the Elder Scrolls games are set on, all Elder Scrolls games have been set on it, though we know the names of other continents such as Akavir and Atmora. Tamriel has 9 provinces; Black Marsh, Cyrodiil, Elsweyr, Hammerfell, High Rock, Morrowind, Skyrim, Summerset Isle and Valenwood. 'Arena' let you visit every province in Tamriel. 'Daggerfall' was situated in part of Hammerfell and part of High Rock. 'Morrowind' took place in Morrowind, more accurately in just the central island of Vvardenfel. 'Oblivion' was set in Cyrodiil, the empire's capital city. 'Skyrim' is set in Skyrim.
