winter - usually wet, windy and not too cold by N European standards - very little snow etc - 2009/2010 was an exceptionally cold year - best weather in the south west

spring - usually dry, some showers, quite long - can run from February to May in some places, not very warm

summer - can be very disappointing - rarely hot - mid 20sC at most and can be wet - unusual to get a continuous spell of very dry weather, not always sunny - best in the east and midlands

autumn - usually very nice - generally dry and settled, temperatures start to drop quickly from late September

but - this is Ireland - there will generally be rain, usually wind, and never too much cold
