* I look for the last time the website was updated and the copyright date, if the website hasn't been updated with in two years, the information probably is not credible. * I look up the author or writer to see what credentials the author or writer has. If the author or writer has many different credentials and can be verified as credible, than it can be assume that the author is credible. * If the data can be determined as credible I can assume the website is a credible source. ____ There is usually no foolproof way of determing quickly whether a souce is reliable or not. You need to use your knowledge of the subject and your common sense. Incidentally, in the humanities, the time of the most recent update is often not that important.

A source's accuracy depends on the truth value of its various statements. An information source may make any number of claims, all of which (assuming they are objective rather than subjective claims) are either true or false. The number of claims it makes that are actually true, in ratio to the total number of claims made, represents its total accuracy.

A source's credibility, on the other hand, represents the likelihood of any objective claim made by that source being true. This is subtly different from accuracy, although both are measures pertaining to the accuracy of objective claims. Accuracy, in fact, is a part of what makes a source credible, by virtue of inductive reasoning. Other factors determinant of an information source's credibility include, but are not limited to, the credibility of sources cited (or lack thereof), the methods used to produce claims independent of other sources, and retroactive methods used to ensure that claims made are accurate (e.g. experimental verification).
