Spirituality is already inside us. Spirituality is the science of the Spirit. The Spirit gives us life, the Spirit gives us breath, without the Spirit there would be death. But this Spirit is covered by layers. Just like there is the skin, then there is blood, there is a mass of muscle, there is bone, there is bone marrow, then eventually there are human cells. We are made of thirty trillion cells. The Spirit is in each cell. But we have to get rid of these layers. These layers are layers of ignorance. They create a dark blanket, and we think we are this body, we think we are the mind. When we let go of this ignorance, we realize we are the Divine Spirit. This is spirituality.

Many assume spirituality to mean a search for the sacred. However, the notion of spirituality has evolved over time. It can take many forms and not all are religious based. In fact, there is no single definition of spirituality.

In modern times spirituality can be more aimed toward personal development and well being and leaving one's own positive effect on the world. For some it involves the creation of a purpose for one's own life through unity with others and improving life for others. Secular spirituality embraces such qualities as compassion and patience for others, forgiveness, responsibility, achieving a harmony in one's life and concern for others.

For many spirituality involves promoting green politics and helping others who are less fortunate. It involves a continuing mindfulness of what you are doing, where you are going, what effect your actions have on others and an effort to leave no negative impacts in your wake. It is an understanding that everything in the universe is mutually dependent and individuals can make a difference.
