Well, that would be difficult. I looked at my Nintendo 64 and noticed that there are no screws on the top or bottom. There are only these weird bolts that I have never seen before. I do not understand why you would want to open it though because a Nintendo 64 can be fixed if you brought it to a hardware like Play n Trade or GameStop.

To add to this answer - if you want to pull it apart

  1. Remove the expansion pack cover.
  2. Remove the expansion pack using a flat head screwdriver or a small spoon.
  3. Remove the six screws with a Nintendo N64 Screwdriver.
  4. Remove the front round feet.
  5. Lift up the top cover.
  6. Remove the 14 screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
  7. Now take out the metal plate: go back and then upward.
  8. Remove the two screws from the expansion pack slot connector using a Phillipp's screwdriver, remove the LED screw using the same screwdriver.
  9. Remove the small metal bracket from the expansion pack slot connector, and then take out the small metal bracket from the front of the expansion near the expansion slot <- Use a flat head screwdriver for that.
  10. Lift the small metal bracket using a flat head screwdriver.
  11. Remove the seven phillips head screws with a phillips screwdriver, and lift the metal plate. Now you can see the circuit board.
  12. In the rear of the Nintendo 64 near the edges of the circuit board there is 4 Phillips head screws - remove each one. Now the circuit board will come out.
  13. Look it over closely on both sides - find any loose components or broken solder welds and repair

i presume you mean modify it for other regions?

well to do that you have to remove the safeguard built into the nintendo 64.

this safe guard stops japanese from being played by us nintendo 64 consoles.

Grab some special tools because they are needed for the modification:

  1. 4.5mm Gamebit and Triple Thr3at Nextwizt Magnetic Handle
  2. Phillips head Screwdriver or insert bit tip and shank extender

Modification

  1. unplug the console
  2. remove the ac adapter from the console
  3. take out any game cartridges
  4. disconnect controllers
  5. remove a/v cable
  6. open the memory slot & take out the expansion pak (jumper pak) - use a flat head insert screwdriver to pull it out.
  7. use the 4.5 millimeter gamebit to unscrew all of the screw underneath the n64 (six security screws in total)
  8. take off the nintendo 64 feet with a phillips screwdriver insert
  9. lift the lid off and find the grey plastic piece inside of the lid, thats the dust guard.
  10. use a phillips screwdriver insert to remove the two screws that hold this dust guard in place. remove the two shutters also.

that should do it. to keep dust out, cover the cartridge hole up with masking tape when not in use.
