The sweep picking technique on the guitar is based on playing a chord form one note at a time, across adjacent strings. For example, play an A minor bar-chord at the fifth fret (low to high, the frets would be: 577555). Now, try strumming through the six tones in that chord, but manipulate your left hand in such a way that only one note sounds at a time. That is basically all there is to it, though it's easier said than done. Much patience and dedication is required to master this technique.

The sweep picking scale is a technique used in guitar playing where the pick is smoothly swept across the strings in a single motion. This technique allows for fast and fluid playing of arpeggios and scales. To effectively utilize sweep picking, practice precise coordination between the pick and fretting hand, focus on muting unwanted string noise, and start slowly before increasing speed.
