OK, so if you are thinking about the devices that you should use in a persuasive text then you would want to look at things like shock statistics, emotive language, metaphors and similes, those sorts of things that both engage the reader and get them to see and agree with your side of the argument without realizing it. a good writer can be sneaky! don't forget that by posing rhetorical questions (where the only outcomes are going to support your argument) you are making it easier for the readers to fall into your trap. you can also gain supporters by giving a statement which is very reasonable. this means that people are agreeing with you and are therefore you have persuaded them.
