I just drained mine yesterday. I vacuumed to waste down to skimmer, Since I couldn't drain past skimmer I put my manual vacuum head and hose in the deep end then connected the other end of vacuum hose to pumb to drain the rest of the way down. I had to take the hose from the bottom off the skimmer that goes to the pump and took it off there to. So I could hook up the free end of the vacuum hose there. After a while the vacuum hose wanted to collasp cause pump has so much suction. We had to stand there and keep an eye on it. If flow became to restrictive we just worked the vac hose back out with our hands to correct flow. Or you can get a submersible pump and hook a garden hose to it. Might take a little longer.
