Decora fashion style is a sort of 'punk-y cute' style. You usually have black, bleached, or mixed (black and bleached) hair, and, less commonly, hot pink. It is always straight, but usually up in two small pigtails on the top of the head to add a 'cute' element.
The make up is always just thick black eyeliner around the eyes. No lipstick, no blush - simple and bold is the way to go. Many have piercings on the face, but it is certainly not necessary - just not unusual.
The clothing is like an art form in itself. 95% of one's wardrobe must consist of hot or soft pink, but usually hot because it accentuated the 'punk' aspect of Decora. Black is also acceptable, but it should be used as a complement to the pink, not the main color. The same applies to white, although black is more common.
Once you've got all your pink and colorful clothing, start layering. Wear colorful boots, mismatched socks, frilly skirts are a must, maybe even two or three shirts, and a pink sweater, usually - and that's not even counting the accessories. The more, the better. Take literally everything you own and put it on in every possible space: in the hair, on the fingers, on your clothes, on your socks, on your legs, on your arms - definitely load the arms with bracelets. Make sure you have a cute, pink purse you can carry around (and also loaded with accessories). If you really want to go all out, a new trend going around the Decora community is getting a white surgical mask, writing cute phrases on it, and wearing it over your mouth.
It doesn't matter if it's considered 'tacky' to a Westerner - if it is, you're probably doing it right. Just think pink, punk, and colorful (rainbow jewelry is popular), and you'll be fine.

Well, I do agree it is a bit immature (in the fun, whimsical way it is supposed to be), but if it is the style that best expresses your personality, then continue to rock it! And if you don't want to upset your parents continue to dress in that style but just incorporate more mature and "normal-ish" pieces of that style into your current wardrobe. Again, if it's what suits you, then go for it and have fun!!
