Yes.
You need a remote start system that works with the alarm/smart key system. You can not just unhook the alarm.
If the lights are not working after using the remote start on a 2003 F-250, then something is wrong with the way it was wired when the remote start was installed. The remote start has wires to hook up to the lights so that a person knows the vehicle started. Perhaps this step was skipped in installation.
This feature is available from some car companies such as Subaru. However, the majority of remote start systems are installed aftermarket. Viper is an excellent company to look at if you are considering a remote start system.
On my 2001 Ford Mustang I have it set up where it can only be started by remote! The reason for this because my master key,"The Installers" ,say is placed in a control module, that is how the vehicle remote starts! My other copy i made of the master key, does not have a strong enough chip signal strength to turn the car over! So If have to remote start it then use the copy to drive on!! My problem now is that when i remote start it it seems as it wants to turn over then it kills! I took it to a mechanic and he said the wiring was knocked loose or pinched! He fixed and rewired it twice and I could drive a while then it does it again! What could this be!! I was thinking if i have the installers yank my whole alarm system out and return my master key will i be able to drive normally with just the key!
It started when this really smart dude was like, hey lets save energy!
