You learn to drive carefully just as you would in a car. A Semi is a very large vehicle, and needs a lot of room to stop. When I learned to drive many years ago, we were taught never to slam on the brakes, this makes the trailer fish tail and you can have a roll over. When you start to slip or slide, you immediately remove your foot from the excellerator, and turn into the skid. ( the same way the truck is sliding) and carefully try to correct the turn back to a normal drive.

A semi loaded with a product can take up to the length of 3 football fields to come to a complete stop going 55 miles an hour. They are a very large and dangerous vehicle if you are not properly trained to drive them.

Motorists need to take their size and weight into consideration when sharing the road with a large vehicle. Many accidents are caused by the careless car driver that cuts off a truck or stops to quickly and causes an accident to occur.
