For small amounts of clothes a microwave would work. Possibly a stove might work as well. However in both cases you would have to be very careful and watchful that you clothes neither melted or caught fire

Throw them in the dryer with a damp washcloth for 15 minutes or so. If the dryer is a no-go for your clothes (check the tag) then they will have to be washed or dry cleaned according to tag instructions.
Wet a dryer sheet and let it sit on the area where the gum is for ten minutes. Then use the dryer sheet to "scrape" any remaining gum.

Just about all dryers have auto sensing drying. The dryer will detect how much moisture is in the clothes. Once all moisture is removed from clothes the dryer shuts off by itself. The timer is not needed when using Auto Dry!

If, after washing your clothes, you can avoid putting them in the dryer at all, you can avoid shrinking them. If the clothes are made primarily of polyester, after washing all you have to hang them up WITHOUT drying them, and usually they look good, all without shrinking. The shower rod is a good place to hang them.
