minecraft is played EXACTLY the same whether it's on a Mac or Windows or Linux machine.
It's just the files are in different areas of the computers.
You have to have the food in your hand and just "right click" the mouse (click the right button on a two button mouse) or "Control-click" with the laptop to eat it.
