The computer reads the temperature from the 2 wire sensor next to the thermostat. It then actuates a relay on the inner fender and turns on the fan. [edit] most 3.0 V6 only have a 1 wire sensor.

The only manual I have found is for the 2.3L 4 cylinder motor and it is a Clymer and is on ebay for about $40.00. Also for the 3.0 V6 there is a DVD instruction guide (VERY DETAILED) available on ebay for about $16.00.
