if everything in steer linkage has nom play even check rag joint on steer column and you suspect steering box you can adjust gear clearance on box must follow procedure in manual or you can cause box to lock or tighten up to much. also check tires and alignment a bad strut or control arm can make car unstable a dragging brake caliper will mess up too
