Go to MW3 Online, just as if you were about to play a game of multiplayer.
Instead of pressing the A button to find a match, press the 1 button.
This will take you to the ally pages, then you can scroll to the right using the directional buttons and this will take you to the page with any ally requests you have received.
Once on this page you can scroll down through the players with the directional buttons, and choose to accept them with the A button.
That's about as straightforward as I can make it after reading other answers that were of no help and figuring it out by myself.
( answering this question by saying "go to the ally page" is super unhelpful if you're just trying to get to find the ally page in the first place!)
