Be as positive as possible. Say something like, "I have enjoyed working at this company and this decision has been difficult. I have been offered an opportunity that I do not feel that I can ignore so it is with mixed emotion that I must offer my resignation. Kindest regards. John Doe"

Keep it short and positive. Don't go into a great deal about your complaints or people with whom you did not work well. Remember that you may encounter some of these people again whether or not you like it or intend for it to ever happen.

Other suggestions from FAQ Farmers:

  • "Accepted a job offer with wider career opportunities."
  • "Accepted a job with higher pay."

Well, this is a tough task. But always be positive while leaving a job and make sure that you maintain good relations with your current employer.

Keep it positive and say things like you have leant a lot and now the offer you have cannot be ignored.

It's not that you have started disliking anything about your current employers. It's just that you want to move forward.

Thank them honestly and wind things up on a positive note.

On a job application, just one or two words is enough. Some examples might include relocation, career advancement, downsizing, lay-off, etc. You do not need to go into in-depth details on an application form.

Undoubtedly, the acceptable reasons for leaving a job have changed over the years. For example, even just a few decades ago, leaving a job would most probably mean that a person is either moving from his or her place of residence or that the company itself has closed for good. However, with the change in corporate and human mentality, there are more and more acceptable reasons for leaving a job today. one of them you hae just mentioned.
