Here are some ways to help get a good night's sleep:

  • Have a set schedule - get a routine that you do every night, such as brush your teeth, take a bath, then crawl into bed; or read a chapter in your book. Any routine will get your body into the habit of feeling sleepy whenever you do the routine.
  • Go to bed around the same time every night -- even on days off! That way, your body knows it's time to get sleepy
  • Drop the temperature in your bedroom to around 70 degrees Fahrenheit - or even 68! Your body temperature drops when you're asleep, so having the bedroom cool makes your body naturally feel sleepy.
  • Cut out the caffeine -- you should not drink any caffeine after noon if you have trouble sleeping! That includes coffee, tea, sodas, "energy drinks," and many diet pills!
  • Check your bed. You should have a good, supportive mattress -- get a new one every 3-5 years! -- and enough pillows and blankets to feel comfortable. If you're not comfy, you wake up in the night.
  • Try cutting down on liquids if you wake up frequently to visit the bathroom. If you wake up more than twice to urinate, get a physical exam, because it might be Diabetes or prostate trouble (if you're a man).

close your eyes, drift away, and find that special place. Start thinking about something you love and eventually, if you really can't sleep, you will, Then again, there are also sleeping pills. :)

Your body does not go to sleep one bit, your eyes move more at night then at day, you kick and toss and sometimes talk. It's your brain that falls asleep, and without a awake brain you can't controll your actions.
