You need to have 2 small bowl-like dishes- one for food and one for water. Buy special parakeet bird seed at pet stores. Some birds that are trained will eat out of your hand but they can bite you... so just use the little bowls and put them in your birds cage. You will also need to have newspaper at the bottom, under the dishes for seed shells and poop, so you can easily clean it up.
