Leave the food in a shell or bowl in a tank. Hermit crabs eat all fruits and veggies (non acidic), lean (non fatty) non seasoned meats, egg shell, egg yolk, and egg whites. My hermies also love SEA salted nuts.
stay away from human foods such as twinkies, seasoned meats, peanut butter, foods with salt in them (unless it says SEA salt) because table salt sofacates and kills your hermies.
