Without telling us what model and who made it, the question can't be answered accurately.
Would need to know the model number, which is numeric. Your best bet is to take the gun to a gunsmith and let him show you how to field strip the shotgun.
Recommend you ask a gunsmith for help. If one is not nearby, contact Browning by phone or on their web site and ask for an owner's manual.

A rib is a raised strip of metal that runs the length of the top of the barrel. A ventilated rib is not solid, but has slots beneath the solid strip.
