I touched a hot wire in an electrical box with a screwdriver and at the same time touched the box. There is no current now in the hot wire and no circuit breakers tripped, I cycled all the breakers in the box and the current is still not coming back to this box.

∙ 12y agoFirst you need to isolate the circuit causing the short. Then you have to check each outlet, light and device on the circuit to find the problem. The process can sometimes be shortened by visual or odor evidence of a fault. If the cause is inside your walls, you need to start pulling outlets out of walls and looking for failed devices. There are test devices such as signal tracers that can aid the process.
