I touched a hot wire in an electrical box with a screwdriver and at the same time touched the box. There is no current now in the hot wire and no circuit breakers tripped, I cycled all the breakers in the box and the current is still not coming back to this box.
First you need to isolate the circuit causing the short. Then you have to check each outlet, light and device on the circuit to find the problem. The process can sometimes be shortened by visual or odor evidence of a fault. If the cause is inside your walls, you need to start pulling outlets out of walls and looking for failed devices. There are test devices such as signal tracers that can aid the process.

Hey Ray==I presume the fuse is blown is why you think there is a short. You have to examine the wiring to find where the wire is shorted out. If you have a trailer harness, start there. If the vehicle has been wrecked. look there as body men have a habit of pinching wires in the repair. If not, you just have to follow the wiring harness and find out where it is. Goodluck, Joe
