Model number will give you a close age. Check with your repair shop, or on line to find out the closest date of manufacture. Some labels on the mowers will also give you the date of manufacture.
If it uses a Briggs engine, the Code is YYMMDDSS where Y is the last two digits of the year, M is month, D is day of the month and Sis the code for the factory and shift of manufacture
As long as it's been made in the last 20 years or less you can find the age in the first six digits of the serial number. It is in the format month/day/year.
