Keep a calendar of your period. Count the first day you start as day one and so forth. On or about day 14 you will be fertile and this will last several days so any sex in this time can result in pregnancy. A sperm can live in a uterus 5 or 6 days so you have to take that into account as well. If you had sex on day 11 that sperm would still be alive on day 14 and you could get pregnant. This method is not foolproof so use protection.
