For beyond the portals, Beat the game, go to the planet Malik (which is past Portal 3), go to the throne room, and throw yourself into that sphere of black stuff (you won't die, trust me). But for the original, I'm not sure, so to find out for yourself, I imagine you need to beat the game first, because geos are REALLY powerful stuff, boy howdy.
