I'm guessing it would be like something not going exactly on the subject of the project but still is crucial to put in. Hope it helps :)
to write a background research for your topic you first you need some chocolate pudding to dump on your head to start thinking and then you need to call your boyfriend or girlfriend and say i hate you and if you dont have a boyfriend or girlfriend you are a big fat LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!get a life

First, pick something that is interesting to you! You're not going to do a good job if you think the project is boring.

Once you think of an area of science that is interesting, just do some research. What questions do you have about that science? What are some things you've always wondered about?

You do research. Use your books, or an online search engine, to look up information about your topic. Look for information which is going to explain or support your topic, and ignore anything which does not do this.

Depends on the topic I think. Asking a librarian is always a good bet though.
