Measure the amount of liquid that is displaced by the object in question (you will probably need a graduated cylinder). The amount of liquid displaced is the volume of the object. Then, since you have the volume of the object, you can find the mass of the object. Mass=Density x Volume.

How do you get a density of a block?

You will need the mass and volume of the block. To find mass, use an electronic balance. To find volume, use length x breadth x height. For irregular solid, use the water displacement method. The density is mass divided by volume.

How to calculate density weight for aluminum?

Get a sample of the metal. Use a scale to find its mass. If it is shape is that of a rectangular solid (box) measure length, width, and height and multiply to find volume. If it is irregularly shaped, use the water displacement method to find its volume. Divide the mass by the volume to get the density.

How do you find out cork's density?

density of a solid is generally measured in grams/cubic centimeter. Using this information, we must determine the mass of the object, as well as it's volume/ displacement. You could measure it with something, or try submerging it in water, and record the displacement. Once the mass and volume are known the calculation is simple. The mass (in grams) is divided by the volume in cubic centimeters, or milliliters. This results in the unit of grams/cubic centimeter, or g/cc, or g/cm^3. Happy experimenting!

How do youfind density with water displacement?

You use the "density heart", which is the following equation:M = D (Mass over volume equals density.)VThe displacement of water is used to determine volume of irregular solids.Pour some measured amount of liquid into a container (any amount, but be sure to measure it) then add the object and measure again. By subtracting the old measurement from the new one, you get the volume that you need to plug into the equation. However, to find density you also have to find mass, which can be found using a tri-beam balance or some such device.

If you know the density and volume of a substance how could you find its mass?

density is mass divided by /volume so mass is density times volume

What measurements must you make to find density of a sample of matter?

density = mass / volume. so you need to weigh to find the mass. To find the volume submerse in water and record the displacement of water to find the volume.

How do you find density for a metal?

you first find it's mass by weighing it on a balance and then find it's volume by using water displacement. after finding them, Density=the mass divided by volume D=M/V

What method is used to find the density of an irregular shape object?

First 'weigh" the ojbect on a scale. this gives the mass. 2nd use the water displacement method to find the volume. Then divide Density = mass / volume.
