If someone has changed their name in New Zealand, and their birth is registered in New Zealand, their new name and all previous names will be recorded on their Birth Certificate, so you could request a copy of this.

If their Birth is registered outside New Zealand, but the name change was done in New Zealand, you can request a copy of the Name Change Certificate.

If the name change was done before September 2005, a copy of the Deed Poll Declaration can be obtained.

Their are charges for requesting each of these documents. Please see the link below.

Note that the details of individuals who request this information are recorded in an Access Register, so anyone can check who has accessed their record. There are some exceptions to this. Please see the link below.

Is there a connection between New Zealand and Zea land in Denmark?

There is no connection other than coincidence between the names of New Zealand, the country, and Zealand, the island in Denmark. New Zealand was the name given to the land (that later became the country New Zealand) by Abel Tasman, who was an explorer from the Netherlands. He was the first European to record its existence. He named it after the province Zeeland in the Netherlands. The spelling was at some point changed to Zealand, which is an anglicized version of the province's name.
