How do you find out if your engine is a 2.2L or a 2.4L engine from 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier?

The easiest way is to open the hood and look at the engine. Right on top the coil cover will have the words "2.4L TWIN CAM"... or you can look at the VIN on the dash there should also be a sticker under the hood on the plastic cover over the radiator. The 8th digit in the VIN will be the letter "T". You can also just go to the auto parts store and they will look for you and tell you which you have. The 2.2 has Over Head Valves (OHV) and the 2.4 has Duel Over Head Cams or "Twin Cams" (DOHC)
