Who Asked the Question?

To find out who asked a specific question, do the following:

  1. At the top of the blue box on the left-hand side of the page, you will see "Question tools" (under the "Hi [username]" when they are logged in).
  2. Click on "Question history." This will give you information such as who asked the question; who made an edit to the question or the answer; who added to the answer; who answered the question; or if an answer was reverted by a supervisor. (Note that the username of each person modifying the question or answer is given as a link to that person's profile.)
  3. If you scroll down to the earliest entry of the "Question history," it will show whether the person asked the question anew, or split it off from a different question.

What is a split?

A "split" means that the question was originally asked as an alternate, and then split off to be a primary question. If that is the case - and you want to see which user added the alternate in the first place - you must go to the question that it was split from and look through the alternates.

How do you ask a question if there is no question to be asked but you have a question?

If you have a question, but there is no question to be asked, then something is wrong... either language skills are lacking, so that you can't put the question you have into words in order to ask it, or something is wrong with your ability to ask a question. Maybe a software problem? ... Not sure why you would find yourself in a position where you could say "there is no question to be asked." What I would say is to ask your question whatever way you can. If you have to do it in person, or draw it, or find a new site, or whatever is making it so there is no question to be asked... find a way to ask your question anyway. If the question you want to ask does not exist on the database then go ahead and ask the question in the box above where it says ''Ask us anything''.
