Open the hood on the left side and on the cowl or firewall you will find a black and silver plate that has all the vehicle specs on it the line called chassis number is your serial number.
That does not seem like the correct number from the information I have. Please recheck the number. The serial number is below the instrument panel on the steering column.

There will be a metal panel at the back with the number on it.
If you mean the rectangular panel on the rear door to the left of the spare wheel I believe this panel is removeable to allow a number plate to be fitted when a towbar is obscuring the bumper number plate.The manual shows there is a number plate light under it but I am still looking for instructions to remove this panel and fit a rectangular plate as I have a towbar which slightly obscures the original plate.Does this answer your question and if I am correct can anyone advise how to remove panel without doing any damage and fit a new plate. Under the dash, on the passenger side. Remove that panel, and it'll expose the fuse and relay panel.
