How do you make Warcraft III Frozen Throne maps melee maps?
Warcraft 3 maps are by default melee maps unless you add more Triggers or player specific units, custom units...etc on the map...on the bottom right corner of the World Editor it tells you if it's either a melee map or a custom map (scenario) and the reasons why. Same goes for Frozen Throne.

After downloading, go to C:\Program Files\Warcraft III, or wherever you've chosen to install the game, and then copy the map you downloaded and paste it into the Maps folder. You're finished then, but be sure you have the World Editor for DotA. You can download it from websites, but some CDs have map editors included. After downloading or pasting the map, open all the folders and find the "BNU (Battle.net) Update", and then click it. After the update, copy the BNU Update, paste it to the folder you placed DotA in, and you're done. Just run Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, go to single player, then custom game, and you'll find the map in the menu at the top.

Dota (Defense of the Ancients) is a custom map on Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne. The aim of the game is to defeat the opposing team's ancient. For Sentinel their Ancient is the Tree of Life. For Scourge it is the Frozen Throne. You pick a hero from either Sentinel or Scourge and you control him throughout the hole game. Every 30-60 seconds a wave of creeps come out, which u cannot control and they help push into the other teams base. Once you get into their base, that is when you can start pushing towards defeating their ancient. Your hero also has a level cap of 25. You hero has a maximum of 4 abilities which he can use to defeat other heroes. With each level, you can choose a different spell, or upgrade the same spell u choose prior, and make it better. For your hero you can also buy him items and upgrade. Hope this helps. =)
