# How do you find the density of an object without finding its mass?

The speed of sound through an object is related to the density and elasticity of the material. Velocity = square root of (elasticity (bulk modulus) divided by density). Thus if you can measure the material's elasticity and the velocity of sound waves passed through it, the density can be calculated without reference to the mass of the object. Wiki User

### What is the formula to finding density?

The formula for calculating density is as follows: density = mass/volume. Simply put, if you divide an object's mass by its volume, you will find its density. Density is the mass of an object per unit volume.

### What is the formula for finding the mass of an object?

To find the volume of an object use the formula v=dm where Volume=Density x Mass To find the mass of an object use the formula m=dv where Mass=Density x Volume

### How do you find the mass of an object when you are given the volume and density of the object?

You can find the mass of the object by multiplying volume and density.

### How do you figure out density?

To find the density of an object, you have to divide the mass of the object by the volume of the object.

### What do you need to find an object's density?

You need the object's volume and the object's mass to find the object's density. Then, you divide the object's mass by it's volume. The formula for density is d = density m = mass v = volume

### How can you find the mass of an object if the volume is known but not the density?

Without knowing either the mass of an object or its density, it would be impossible to find the mass. There would be two variables and only one equation. Thus, one cannot find the mass of an object solely from its volume.

### How is the density of an object determined?

You find the density of an object by dividing its mass by its volume.

### How do you find a density of an object?

density=mass/volume

### If 1 object has a mass of 1487 and another object has a mass of 878 which one has the greater density?

Density=mass/volume. Unanswerable without knowing the volumes (or enough information to find their volumes) of the objects.

### How doy you find the density of an object?

density=mass/volume

### Whether an object will sink or float?

To know this you first need to find the density of the object and the density of the fluid on which the the object shall be kept. If the density of the fluid is more than the object's density then the object will float. The object will sink if the reverse happens.

### When do you find the density of an object?

mass divided by volume will give the density...
