Not true. Nissan dealers can get a key code from the VIN# for vehicles from about mid 95 onwards, but only if the original selling dealer put the code on file with Nissan. Some older Nissan's had a small white tag in the glove box with the key code on it. Many of todays cars are sold with a small tag attached to the keys with the code, this was to be held on to by the customer in case of accidental loss.
