Gold is very dense, so a pound of it won't displace much water. If a crown, supposedly of pure gold and weighing one pound, displaces MORE water than a pound of bar gold does, then the crown is LESS dense than gold and is therefore amalgamated with some less dense material.

Archimedes' problem was really how to measure the VOLUME of such an irregular shape as a crown.

How can you determine molarity from percent purity of solution?

Molarity is the no of moles of solute dissolved per litre of a solution. now if u want to find it from the percentage purity , here is the formula for that Molarity = % purity x density x 10 ___________________ molar weight of the solute note : density is usually given %purity problems, if its not u can evualvate it from from formula { d= mass/volume} i hope it solves the problem

Where can you find weak acids?

Most acids are weak acids, such as lactic acid, tartaric acid, phosphoric acid, and oxalic acid. Some of these can be found at general stores or in stores such as Lowes and Home Depot that sell products using these acids as their main components, though purity may be lowered.

How can you use density to determine the purity of diamonds?

Density of a diamond a purity are not exactly related, unless you are determining the purity of industrial diamonds. We did find a chemistry question on Chegg that may reveal how: "In a purity check for industrial diamonds, a 11.25 carat (1 carat = 0.2000 g) diamond is heated to 74.21°C and immersed in 27.30 g of water in a constant-pressure calorimeter. The initial temperature of the water is 27.20°C. Calculate ?T of the water and of the diamond (cdiamond = 0.519 J/g·K). ?Twater _____ K ?Tdiamond ______ K"

Where could you find a list of pure liquids?

A pure liquid contain only ultratraces of impurities; but be sure that absolute purity is impossible.

What are called principle planes and principle stress?

The principle stress is a maximum tension stress in a body where shear stress is zero and it acts on the principle plane. If a body is under both tension and shear then the principle stress is higher than the initial tension stress. You can calculate this and find the principle plane angle using Mohr Circle analysis or equations.

How do you find percent age purity?

Answer: Divide purity units by the number of units that represents 100% purity, then multiple by 100. The answer will be the percentage purity. For example: If a piece of gold contains 18 units of gold and 100% pure gold is 24 units, then we can calculate the purity of the gold piece as follows: 18/24 = .75 * 100 = 75% purity.
