If it is a federal return, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. If it is a state return, call your state tax agency, the number should be in the instruction booklet for your state tax forms. Unless it is an emergency, wait at least a week after April 15th to call. They are overloaded with calls right now as the filing deadline is approaching and in the few days after the deadline they get overloaded with panic calls from people who missed the deadline or made some kind of mistake.
