you dont if a dll file is broken try chkdsk but most likely if your dll file is broken it means you have an old one and need to get the newer version. find out what the dll is used for and then check that programs webpage for updates. .dll constantly install old versions over newer ones and cause other programs to stop working so you may be able to run system restore to get you back to whe the stuff worked.

What happens to deleted files The file was originally on your C partition of hard-drive will the files remain on that partition or can they sometimes be stored on the D partition?

First, they would not be on the "D" drive. The "D" drive is a small partition created when Windows is installed and only contains the basic information of Windows. Files that are :deleted, aren't really deleted until at sometime the area that they take up on the hard drive are written over. There is some software out there, Active UNDelete is one, that can help recover files that nave been deleted IF they are still intact on the hard drive.
