It needs a good tune up first. Plugs, wires rotor and cap and fuel and air filters. Also run injector cleaner through it and last check the cat convertor.
It could be a vacuum leak in the throtle body or intake manifold. Get some carb cleaner and check it. Be careful as the cleaner is flamable.GoodluckJoe
Yes, "sparkling plugs" is definitely detrimental to idling or smooth running of an engine
it could be your timing is off
Check your spark plugs and leads.
Vaccuum leak somewhere
A bad exhaust will cause gas fumes to get inside the Nissan Maxima while it is idling. Gas fumes, if contained in an enclosed space, is dangerous.
I would say it is the cam sensor, that would cause more problems with the idle than the throttle body. Have it scanned for codes, if it is the cam sensor then the computer will let you know.
This problem is in most cars, that is when running the AC on a hot day. There is a solenoid, or a solenoid and a valve to adjust the idle when the AC compressor kicks in so the engine will not die. My suggestion is check the vacuum hoses, as there is most likely one more more that are cracked or loose causing the problem.
While driving my car died. The check engine, brake and battery light all came on. It did restart after about 10 minutes and died again 10 minutes later after idling for about 5 minutes. What would cause this? You have to take your car to a shop that can read the obdII fault codes. And then take it from there ...
i just payed $450 for mine and it has idling issues..searching for knock sensor location now...
replace the carburetor idle speed electrovalve. Should pay about $3.00 for a new replacement part.
May be that one of the cylinders is not firing. Check spark plugs for oil/any other obvious damage.
