i have a 95 with that problem. when my mechanic told me the cost to fix it i decided to live with it. it sticks and wont shift into gear when the car is cold or hasn't run for awhile. the nob on the top of the shifter comes off. i use it to wack the part that wont move down and replace the nob. it works. i showed my mechanic he got a laugh out of it.

Why won't your 95 grand prix go into park?
if you can't physically get the shifter into park, it may just be a cable and/or linkage in the car or at the trans lever in engine bay. if you can move shifter into park, and car can still roll, it could be: 1. broken drive axle 2. broken off or sticking parking pawl in the transmission.

Unscrew it counterclockwise. Look to see if there is a retaining screw. If so loosen it with an Allen key and then unscrew the shifter knob.
