Found this and it worked.
In Windows XP (worked also on my windows 7):
1. Go to Start and click on Run.
2. Type in "services.msc" (without quotes). Or go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.
3. Find RosettaStoneDaemon.
4. Check the status column to make sure it says "started."
5. If not started (status = stopped) in the left hand side of the box, click on the blue "Start the service" link. (Or right click on RosettaStoneDaemon and select start.)
No need to restart computer.

You will need to go to the control panel and click the support line for information to fix the error 5118 on Rosetta Stone for Windows.
The profile is stored in the tracking.db3 file in the common application data folder. Windows XP: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Rosetta Stone\tracking.db3 Windows Vista/Windows 7: %ProgramData%\Rosetta Stone\tracking.db3
Rosetta Stone error 2120 is a broken shortcut. To fix it delete the Rosetta Stone shortcut. Then go the Program files on your C drive and create a new shortcut from the .exe file and send it to the desktop.
Contact the Rosetta Stone online company and ask for help. They will guide you through the process's you need.
According to the advice from Rosetta Stone (See links below) the 5118 error can be caused by various problems ranging from the headset not being connected/configured correctly to the application's permissions not allowing data to be written by the software. Try the fixes suggested on the linked page to resolve the problem. 1) Open Application>Utilities>Terminal 2) Change directory: CD /Library/Application Support/Rosetta Stone Version 3/ 3) change to superuser/administrator: su superusername 4) change permission to read/write for owner-group-all to the tracking.db3: chmod 666 tracking.db3 5) Open Application>Rosetta Stone Version 3
