when your battery is disconnected, or dies, it unsets the automatic roll up feature.
You have to push the down button and hold it down for a few seconds when it goes down. You should hear a click and that will reengage the automatic feature.
On some models you have to also manually roll it up and hold the up button, but I don't think on yours.
