This was a HUGE problem for these cars. YOU can not fix it. Back in the day, we had to take them to the dealer, and they would send them back to the factory to be repaired. It cost quite a bit of money. It is pretty rare to find one at a wrecking yard that is anygood.
Yes. Optional on the LE
You could have shorted it out. I have a digital instrument cluster that has shorted out in the displays and the rest of the dash went with it. I've been looking for a replacement for 4 years and still haven't found one. Good luck.
The cost to fix a digital dash in a 1988 Lincoln Continental can vary widely depending on the specific issue, the availability of parts, and labor costs. Generally, repairs can range from $100 to $500. If the entire unit needs replacement, it could cost between $300 and $1,200 depending on whether you find a used or new part. It's advisable to get a diagnostic from a qualified mechanic to determine the exact issue and estimate the repair costs accurately.

Dash speakers are 3 1/2 inches. They are a real pain to replace. You need to remove all lower portions of the dash.
on my 88 it's under the dash in the middle, you can see a small flap. 85 and 88 should be similar
