I emailed tracfone and was told to call customer service

at 1-800-867-7183. ( 8am to 9pm est). I was able to get this resolved in about 10 minutes, all the information you need is stored in your phone. They told me had to do with problems at their transmission tower. Hope this helps.

It just happened to me. You don't even have to go through all that removing of the battery madness, just shut the phone off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on again. It happened due to their towers faltering.
