How do you fix the temperature gauge in a 1990 Ford F-250?

Okay...Lets be realistic about this, there could be a number of things, a separation in the electrical line, or something is simply disconnected that could be the culprit your temp gauge quit working. Above the thermostat you should see a black metal tube that is connected to the lower intake manifold. This black metal tube connects to the thermostat, and goes into one of the heater hose lines. Above and on this black tube on the lower intake manifold is the electronic component is actually the temp sensor when you disconnect a wire from it you should see a two pronged white component, replace this by unscrewing it from this black metal tube and install a new one. The reason the temp sensor is here is because it is measuring the heat of the antifreeze/water coming out of the block into the lower intake manifold thus enabling the temperature sensor to deliver an accurate reading, if this becomes faulty or covered with rust it can easily deliver an inaccurate reading or quit working. My suggestion is to try replacing it, if that doesnt work follow the wiring diagram to see if you can find a disconnection in the wires.
