Try charging it if the battery is low.
Find the small, rectangular, black power button, press it, and slide the arrow on the screen to the right to unlock your ipad.
Shake your phone or iPad or iPod to the right and then slide your finger across the arrow!
Don't worry! Double press the home button and then slide to the right. There should be a circle with an arrow that is going clockwise. If it has a padlock in the centre of it then the orientation is locked. Click on this to unlock it and this should solve your problem. If the button is already unlocked, you should try switching of your iPad (by holding down the lock button at the top of the iPad and then sliding the 'slide power off' arrow) and leaving it for a while. Then switch it back on and it should work. If it doesn't, there is probably something wrong with the balance inside. This could have been caused by it hitting something hard, being dropped etc. You can visit an apple store or there website to find out more information. The websites should be in one of the booklets that came with your iPad. _________________________________________________________________ The switch above the volume rocker can also be set as an orientation lock. If you see a lock symbol with a circular arrow around it next to your battery meter, it means this switch is activated. Slide it the other way to unlock.
no using your hands is one
The iPad itself is just a tablet, you don't 'open' it, although it may be in a case or cover that hinges open. Press the Home Button, and the lock screen pops up. Slide your finger across the Slide to Unlock area, and it will go to the home screen. If it asks for a Passcode, enter the 4-digit lock code to open it. If you don't know what the lock code is, you'll need to ask the person who owns the iPad.
