This is not a major problem and happens with many rugs. It is caused by the tension of the wefts and is specially common in Persian Bijar rugs. Here is what you need to do:
1- Turn the rug back.
2- Prepare an iron on middle high temperature settings.
3- Get a clean damp towel.
4- Put the towel on the side of the rug and apply gentle pressure on it with the iron, making sure you hold it on each spot for about 10-15 seconds.
5- Repeat this procedure along the sides.
If you turn the rug back, it should now sit flat on the floor. There is the possibility that this problem will come back a few months down the road. For a permanent solution, have a professional repairman put leather straps on the sides of your rug. Almost all rug dealers can provide you with this simple repair work.
