The earlier model 40 hp Johnson and Evinrude outboards use a special flush adapter. It fits over the water pickup screen in the side of the exhaust horn, located under the backside of the antiventilation plate, just above the propeller. I doubt that this flusher is still available on the market, so probably your best bet would be to use a large garbage barrel. I have, and on occasion still do, use this method when serviceing the older J/E outboards.
The dry weight of a 1992 40hp Johnson is between 180 and 190lbs. depending on the model.
1970 40 HP Johnston outboard weighs 145 lbs.
The dry weight of a 1983 model, 40hp Mercury outboard, is 156lbs.
how do u check timing in a 40 hp yamaha 2 stroke
yes
Certain models of Johnson and Evinrude engines are not equipped with a tell tale water indicater outlet. These models discharge cooling water out the exhaust passages, and or the propeller.
