The tools provided with Windows 2000/XP/Vista do not allow creating a single partition above 32 GB (for good reasons). You would have to use another tool, such as PartitionMagic or GParted to format the disk.
MSDOS Fat32 and stick to 4GB cards No more than 200 folders and 500 songs
I bought a 500 GB Seagate external hard drive, and I was going to FAT32 format it so It could be used with a PS3. Unfortunately, I deleted the entire partition off of it, and now it no longer is recognized as a mass storage device. It will come up as "Portable" under my devices and printers, but I don't know how it can be changed back to it's original state, so I could still use it. Any help?!
like 500
You can use 500 GB hard disk & install OS 2000, but you won't be able to avail 500 GB hard disk space on it.
The prices of a Western Digital hard drive of 500 GB can vary greatly depending on where the purchase is made. It can range between $50.00 to $100.00.
I opened the 500gb external and found a Seagate Barracuda drive to my surprise.
My Book Essential Edition 2.0 500 GB External hard drive is $79.00
It means to make a single Hard Drive into many. When you buy any hard drive it is used normally as one partition. After you format it you can change the partitioning into different sizes you want. You can make a 500 gig hd into five 100gig partitions (it would show up as 5 different hd icons) or two 250 gig partitions, (it would show up as 2 hard drives) etc. The down fall of having partitions is if the hard drive died ALL the partitions die with it. The partitions are still part of ONE hard drive.
Sure, why not. 500 GB still is a lot of storage space. If you upgrade your computer hard drive you can put the 500 GB drive in an external container and use it for off-line storage of videos, pictures, and other files you want to save.
